Image result for scooby doo mary jane postI definitely agree with this notion that certain types of media content can stay relevant for long periods of time simply based on “corporate promotional practice and fan activity” and when I think of this Scooby Doo is a totally awesome example. I have never thought about the fact that in order to keep the Scooby Doo franchise strong, they have started to make it appealing to adults as well. However, you can see this in the live action films that came out in the 2000’s. I personally think those movies were so amazing and they have these moments that are completely for adults. We can see this in like weed related references towards Shaggy and Scooby in the first live action film for sure.

So I watched Scooby Doo: Mystery Incorporated on Netflix and let me tell you how it is one of the greatest version of the Scooby Doo franchise because of this reason of being for adults and kids. The references in this rendition of the franchise are out of this world. One episode has Harlan Ellison is in aka one of the coolest SciFi writers of all time. I mean, he wrote the episode where Spock wears a beanie and I’ll never recover.

Also, we’ve got an episode with Blue Falcon and Dynomutt  which was so lit lemme tell you. But overall there are so many references that make this show acceptable for younger and older viewers, and I think that is something that the Scooby Doo franchise is doing right.
